OPENRANGE / HOW TO COMPARE PROP-FIRM RULES

Compare the rules.
Not just the headline.

Searching for the “best prop firm”? Start by comparing the same facts across the exact programs. A bigger advertised balance is not automatically more usable room or a better fit.

Build a comparison you can explain.

Fill from each program’s current terms; this is not a provider ranking
QuestionWhat to record
What stage is offered?Evaluation, simulated stage or live account; progression conditions.
How can access be lost?Loss thresholds, calculation method, prohibited activity and other failure conditions.
What can it cost?Initial, recurring and conditional charges; cancellation and refund terms.
How do payouts work?Eligibility, schedule, limits and ongoing conditions from the agreement.

Keep missing answers visible. “Not stated in the advertisement” is not the same as “no restriction.” Read the contract and contact the provider when required.

A comparison trap: same number, different rule.

Imagine two fictional programs both describe a $500 loss allowance. One boundary is fixed. The other moves with a specified high-water mark. The headline number matches, but the behavior after a new high may not.

Can you call the programs equivalent from the $500 label?

No. You need the boundary definition, measurement timing and treatment of open profit or loss. Equal starting labels do not establish equal rules.

Use the interactive example to practice the idea, then check the actual agreement. Its teaching values do not reproduce a real provider account.

What this comparison deliberately does not do.

It does not rank firms, verify their financial condition, promise payouts or recommend a program for your circumstances. A complete decision involves facts beyond a short checklist. Read current terms and investigate the provider independently.

Do not confuse promotional compensation with an objective recommendation. If an affiliate relationship is introduced later, it should be disclosed clearly; this page does not contain an affiliate ranking or a purchase link.

TAKE THIS INTO THE ACADEMY

Learn to understand the offer before evaluating it.

OPENRANGE’s preparation lessons explain the rule shapes and cost questions. Then connect them to simulated order practice and risk—not an affiliate leaderboard.

  • Compare exact stages rather than firm names alone.
  • Distinguish different loss-limit measurement methods.
  • Separate passing an evaluation from payout eligibility.

Clear questions. Useful answers.

Is a larger advertised balance better?

Not enough information. Loss boundaries, charges, permitted activity and other terms determine what that label means.

Why not list a universal winner?

Programs and circumstances differ, and terms change. The educational goal is a comparison you can justify from current evidence—not a permanent best-firm label.
